Successful learners are...
"A successful learner is someone who works hard, cooperates with others, takes risks, sets goals, makes a good effort and asks for help if needed, doesn't give up, and learns from his or her mistakes" (Jones & Jones, 2007, p.252).

LMS Instructional Focus
At Lincoln Magnet School, our instructional focus is Responding to Text. Through the use of promising practices, such as higher level questions and the integration of technology, students will improve their ability to respond to text in each content area.

SMI (scholastic math inventory) is an online assessment purchased by the district. It will give parents and teachers data on Algebra readiness. This test will help to identify some topics that students need before the end of the year to help prepare them for the next course. Only 1st and 2nd hour math students will be taking this test.
Late Work
Remember that the 6th grade homework policy allows for two days to turn in an assignment for up to 90% credit. Also, if a student misses class for band it is their responsibility to check in with their teacher to get work/assignments that they missed while in band.
Math students who turn in late work should place it in their regular hour drawer. I will not ask a student for late work. It is their responsibility to turn it in. I usually grade late work over the weekend. Thank you for your patience with late grades. On-time work takes priority over late work.
