The Iles playground volunteer schedule is also attached. Make sure you have your assigned dates on your calendar. If you haven't signed up, check the schedule and see if you can fill in any gaps! We can use several parents on the playground each and every school day!

FEBRUARY PTO NEWS LETTER!

Dear Iles Parents,

We would like to take this opportunity to say a special thank you to our Chinese New Year’s Chairperson, Damon McParland who designed great dragon t-shirts and planned an exciting night of dancing, food and great family fun. 2012 is the year of the Dragon, which means it’s going to be a magical year at Iles School. It’s hard to believe that it’s already February and the school year is more than half over. The planning for Valentine classroom parties is underway. If you can volunteer or help with food, let your party coordinators know. We have a Pizza Hut night scheduled for Thursday, February 16th from 5-8 and Scrip orders are due Thursday, February 9th. Our next PTO meeting is scheduled for March 29th at 6:00 in the library. It will be an important meeting. We will be voting on by-law changes, surplus money in the budget and nominations for next year’s PTO Board. Surplus money request forms are on the PTO website. They need to be completed and returned to Iles by March 15th to be considered at the PTO meeting. If you would like to run for a PTO board position, please e-mail any of the following board members by March 22. We need your help! Research shows that student achievement is directly linked to parent involvement. So, we are asking for your help with playground, popcorn Fridays, book fair, field trips and in the classroom. We welcome parents, grandparents, family friends and relatives to take part. There is truly something for everyone to do.

ILES THANKS YOU FOR YOUR TIME!

Dear Iles Parents,

The Iles PTO thanks all of you for supporting our 11th annual multicultural family event Iles Celebrates. This year’s celebration was extra special as Iles School received our authorization as an International Baccalaureate World School.

Thanks to your support and participation, we raised over $30,000 of which $6,175 will go towards the purchase of iPads. The remainder will help the PTO implement and fund programs that all of our students enjoy, such as Chinese, Art, Music, Intramural Sports, Field Trips, Library Books, Teacher Grants, Classroom and Office Supplies, Popcorn Fridays, Middle School Events, Writers Workshop, End-of Year Parties and International Baccalaureate Learning Tools for our students and teachers.

We’d like to take this opportunity to say a special thank you to our Iles Celebration Chairperson, Mary Beth Burke who spent almost a year planning for our celebration, and to our many dedicated volunteers. We truly appreciate their time and efforts to make this year’s Iles Celebrates our largest one to date. We’d also like to thank the following restaurants for providing great food for our fun family night of celebration: Dairy Queen, The Inn at 835, Little Saigon, Magic Kitchen, Popeyes Chicken, Hickory River, Nelson’s Catering, Yanni’s Gyros, Xochimilco, Gateway to India, Darcy’s Pint, Ross Isaac, Cafe Moxo and Angela’s A Taste of Italy.

SCRIP orders are due in the office by end of day today, October 6th. It doesn't cost anything extra to buy gift cards that can be used at many local and online retailers. These retailers donate a percentage of your gift card purchase to Iles School. Plan ahead for those fuel, grocery, birthday party, and holiday purchases while raising money for Iles School. Even buying one card will help! Distribution of gift cards will be October 12th.

To order simply fill out the attached form and send it to school with your check. Please make the check payable to Iles PTO. To have access to more retailers, we encourage you to place your order on the Shop With Scrip website (http://www.shopwithscrip.com/). It is free to join, no credit card needed. Mention you are with Iles School and 15% of your purchase will be donated to the PTO. Buy a Chuck E. Cheese gift card, and you can "double dip" with SCRIP! Chuck E. will be at school during dismissal that day to greet students and we will be passing out stickers redeemable for 10 free tokens the night of the event! Stop by any time between 3:00pm - 9:00pm to join the fun! We look forward to seeing you there!
