We are now accepting applications for 7th and 8th grade AVID for next school year. Students meeting the criteria have been given a letter to take home to their parents. A parent informational meeting will take place on Wednesday, April 6 in the school library from 5:30-6:00pm. Applications are due back on Friday, April 8th and interviews will begin the following week. Please contact Ms. Tarr if you have questions regarding your child's eligibility at 525-3170.

AVID stands for Advancement Via Individual Determination. It is a college preparatory class that helps students learn the skills necessary to take honors and AP classes in high school with the eventual outcome of attending a four-year college. Currently, 8th and 7th grade students participate in the AVID Program at GMS. Ms. Linda Tarr is the 8th grade AVID teacher and GMS AVID Site Coordinator. Mrs. Kelly Joyner is the 7th grade AVID teacher.
