Process for Admission to Iles
Criteria for admission to Iles School includes three components:
* a test score of 1.5 standard deviations above the group norm on the Naglieri Nonverbal Ability Test
* a teacher recommendation indicating that the student is demonstrating performance levels of one grade level above his/her age peers in reading, mathematics, writing
* a parent recommendation indicating a child's strengths
Students need to meet the criteria in two of the three areas.
The NNAT is administered to all 186 kindergarten students in January. Parents of students not attending a 186 school should e-mail Teresa Kaiser at tbkaiser@springfield.k12.il.us or call her at 525-3030 to make arrangements for testing or a review of existing standardized test scores.

Not every child has an equal talent or an equal ability or equal motivation; but children have the equal right to develop their talent, their ability, and their motivation.

Iles School offers a curriculum for students identified with a gifted potential in the first through fifth grades. The instructional program includes depth and acceleration to meet the academic needs of these students. This will get accomplished by providing a nurturing environment that respects the individuality of each child, challenges each to achieve his or her potential, and values diversity.
